The February 2006 issue (Vol 28, No 1) of the IAS Newsletter opens with Dr. Thomas B. Croat’s first installment of his 2005 Ecuadorian Araceae field exploration, detailing both the scientific and personal aspects of his trip. New editor Carla Kostelac invites member contributions and outlines her vision for the newsletter’s future. President Dan Levin discusses financial challenges and proposes an electronic newsletter option. The issue also includes the 2004–05 financial report, a report on recent Araceae research at the Missouri Botanical Garden, a member survey on the newsletter’s format, and minutes from the 2005 board meeting.
